This has been most evident in his implementation of the ‘Precision in Practice’ professional learning structure that has allowed all teachers to focus on improving classroom skills. Our Lady’s College has been blessed to have Kay as part of our community and she is truly deserving of recognition.Ĭare for students, support for staff, connection with the community and living out his faith are all hallmarks of St Mary’s Catholic College Principal Wayne Wood. With Kay’s encouragement and support this young woman has grown and now graduated. Kay’s true Christian qualities have also been on display as she opened her own home to a Vietnamese student whose refugee status is still under review. She is one of those people who always speak positively of others and never seeks reward or recognition. In all her dealings with staff, students and the broader community, Kay brings grace and compassion and is recognised at Our Lady’s as a person of true integrity. Kay will always volunteer to fill a need and can be found time-keeping at the inter-school sports events, running the canteen when others are sick, and manning a sausage sizzle. The staff prayer space that she decorates is beautiful, and these displays nurture the soul. Each assembly prayer service is beautifully presented and thought provoking. Kay creates prayer spaces and services for the staff and students that inspire and capture authentic spirituality. Student empowerment and involvement is also a focus with Kay building the capacity of students to lead. Social justice issues are promoted in caring and appropriate ways through fundraising activities, newsletter promotions, lunch-time activities etc. As Campus Minister, she has instigated numerous service activities including the ‘Modern Marys’ homework club support to the local primary school and weekly visits to TriCare nursing home. In these roles, Kay has demonstrated exemplary service to the goals of Catholic education and built community wherever she worked. Kay has served Catholic Education through her committed teaching and for the last eight years in her role as Campus Minister at Our Lady’s College.
